DLP Projector Information

Why choose a DLP Projector over any other type of projector? Here's a hint: it's all in the mirrors.

DLP® (Digital Light Processing) is a technology that was developed in 1987 by Dr. Larry Hornbeck of Texas Instruments, and is used in DLP projectors today. An image is created in DLP projectors using microscopically small mirrors laid out in a matrix on a semiconductor chip; each mirror representing one or more pixels in the image. The number of mirrors, therefore, represents the resolution of the projected image.

DLP® uses an optical system that reflects light to the screen, resulting in razor-sharp images. The ultra-fast DLP® chip makes DLP projectors the ideal choice for business presentations, offering reliable, consistent picture quality, with precise, lifelike images and sharp graphics.

These images are made sharper because the DLP® chip minimizes the gaps between pixels in an image. And, less gaps mean smoother images.

How are DLP® projectors used in presentations?

DLP® projectors are hooked up to a computer, which projects an image on a large screen or wall. These images can be photos, PowerPoint presentations, slide shows, movies, charts, etc.

What to look for in a DLP® projector for presentations?

If your business purposes require you to travel to your presentations, you would want something that is easy to travel with. You would want something fairly lightweight, weighing under 10 pounds. Oh, and a remote control and carrying case would be nice as well.

DLP® projectors come in a range of costs, from the more budget models to expensive models. You would probably want something at least over 1000 to 2000 lumens, unless you expect to give the video portion of your presentation in a darkened room (less lumens requires a room to be darker so that your images aren't washed out by the room light).

According to ConsumerSearch.com, the following DLP® projectors have been given top reviews, and make good projectors for business purposes. Many of these can be bought for around $1,000:

Dell 2400MP
Optoma EP719
Mitsubishi XD460U
Optoma EP1690
Boxlight Broadview
